This statement is intended to address a specific and verifiable issue concerning the neutrality and thematic balance of the Wikibooks Main Page. The current layout of the Main Page prominently features a direct link to a single category (“Cookbook”) in the main navigation column. No equivalent visibility is granted to other areas of knowledge, such as sciences, humanities, or philosophy. This design choice creates a disproportionate emphasis on one domain, without any supporting policy that justifies privileging a specific subject area. From the standpoint of Wikibooks:What is Wikibooks (WB:WIW), the platform defines itself as “a collection of open-content textbooks” covering all areas of knowledge. Therefore, the Main Page should reflect that diversity and maintain thematic neutrality, ensuring equal prominence for different fields. Proposed adjustment: Review the Main Page layout to ensure balanced representation across subject areas. Remove or redesign elements that give undue prominence to one field without policy-based justification. Establish a documented guideline for thematic neutrality on the Main Page, applicable to all future layout changes. Maintaining a neutral and balanced presentation is essential for credibility, inclusivity, and adherence to Wikibooks’ stated mission as an open educational resource covering all areas of knowledge equally.
